A Time to Dance is the longtime vision and goal of its owner, Linda Cavella. Linda has been a studio owner for 43 years and has trained throughout the United States. As a professional choreographer, she has worked with many productions throughout NE Ohio and the South.
Excellence in dance training and instilling love for dance is our reason for being. The gift of dance is not only a blessing to the dancer,
but to those who watch them dance, as well.
At A Time to Dance, we believe that all who wish to dance
and to train should be encouraged.
Classes are developed with attention to age appropriate style and technique and delivered with dignity.
All classes offered at A Time to Dance are geared to the level
and age of students and their experience.
Our classes are taught by instructors who love what they are doing and
are well qualified in their technique.
We also offer classes for those with disabilities and special needs. These classes are run
like a typical dance class with each student's special needs being taken into consideration,
as far as their curriculum and pace of delivery are concerned.
Ballet is a classical dance form characterized by grace and precision. Ballet gives a strong sense of structure, is very disciplined and is the base for all other forms of dance.
Ballet lets the younger dancer experience the feeling of being a fairytale princess or a bird or butterfly. The older dancer is carried away in its beauty.
Ballroom forms taught are
Salsa, Swing, Waltz, Tango and Fox Trot.
Hip Hop is a newer style of jazz that has become popular through television and rap music videos
Irish Step-Dance is a performance dance that originated in Ireland. It incorporates quick and precise movements of the feet. Dancers start off in soft shoe and progress to the hard shoes. Irish step dance was made popular by the group 'Riverdance.'
Jazz dance has its foundation in a fusion of European and African traditions and matched to the rhythms of jazz music. After the 1950s, jazz took on many different styles and has become popular in movies, television shows, videos and commercials. Jazz is a good base for Broadway music, community theatre and other live productions.
Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz. Its focus is on conveying emotion through movement and is commonly set to popular music.
Modern dance is a free expressive style of dance leaving the dancer free to express inner feelings through the moves. It is usually done barefoot.
Special needs classes are run like a typical dance class with a student's special needs taken into consideration.
Tap dance utilizes shoes fitted with metal taps to tap out rhythmic sounds using the floor as a percussive instrument. Tap is an exciting and fun form of dance.
All instructors at the studio are trained to follow the standards of technique set forth by the studio.
They are all given the artistic freedom to present their own styles and ideas within those standards.
Upon registration, directors and/or teachers like to meet parents and prospective students
in order to get to know them before going into the classroom.
This helps us to assess personalities, expectations and goals.
Our Class Peers participate in classes to be an example for the students, as well as help
the instructors with attendance and organization.
